Harry returns to find room weirdness
Jan. 4th, 2009 04:31 pmSo Agnes and Luke are abroad this quarter, meaning other people get to take their rooms. The way it works, if you'll recall, is that people who have been in the house longer get priority, ties broken by who has been in the college longer, ties there broken by lottery. Generally, you expect that just about everyone in the top tier who is still in a double is going to request the room and there will be a lottery among them.
Now this year there's a number of second-years in doubles; 3 such pairs, in fact, plus Marc-Andre, who's roommates with Matt, a first-year, and Nick, who pulled in Jim Mumford from Dudley House (who ranks inbetween first-year and second-year).
None of these people took either of the rooms. So, OK, that means there's going to be a big lottery among all the first-years, right?
Nope. Pat requested Luke's room. That's it. So Pat just got Luke's room without a lottery (meanwhile, Julian has now returned to Tufts as Charlie's new roommate), and as for Agnes's room...? Well, it went to the waiting list. Yes, that's right. A single went to the waiting list. Ordinarily people don't move in in the middle of the year because, who wants to take a double? But now a single went to the waiting list. So we've got a new guy. His name is Ryan, I'm told. I don't think many people have seen him yet.
