What does the title of this entry sound like to you?

If it sounds like utter nonsense, well, you're absolutely right, but you're missing the point.

Because the point is that that is the first line of the new Song of Nomicron!

That's right... the Song is back, in all its nonsensical glory! Note that this Song is very different from either of the previous Songs. Honestly I still think the original Song was best, but...

The new Song is at http://www.nomicron.org/pagelist.do?book_id=16 .
The old Songs are (still) at http://round3.nomicron.org/songofnomicron.do .

The intramural QB tournament: Um, honestly, I forget who won. The finals was David Putnins's team against Josh Feng's team. I'm pretty sure Josh's team won.

Mr. Sayres decided not to have the teachers play in the actual tournament, just to have them play against us (me, Stefan, Czolacz, Shu). I think they should have played; I'm told some teams actually came close to beating the teachers on the first day, and there could have been better teams on the second. As for us, we played against them twice, beating them both times. Their team was Ostfeld, Guderian, Montone, and the same person I didn't recognize... Halligan, was it? I forget. A bio teacher she was, though.

My geology textbook is not in my room. My mom apparently did a very thorough search of it yesterday, and didn't turn it up. I was planning to do something unusual and actually (*gasp*) buy a few things last weekend (Crimelords, for instance...), but now I think I'd better wait till we find out how much the book costs. Or, preferably, actually find the book, but that seems unlikely at this point...

(The following conversation refers to my AIM profile, the second line of which is "Everything else here is out of date.".)

(19:53:45) JP math nut: sorry, dude, but even "Everything else here is out of date." is out of date
(20:14:13) Sniffnoy: well, not really - it's still true, after all
(20:14:43) JP math nut: but "everything else is..." implies that the current statement isn't
(20:14:48) JP math nut: which it isn't, because it is
(20:14:59) JP math nut: so you should say "Everything here is out of date"
(20:15:02) JP math nut: except then
(20:15:07) JP math nut: that wouldn't be out of date
(20:28:14) Sniffnoy: (ack, back)
(20:28:20) Sniffnoy: but... why is it out of date in the first place?
(20:28:23) Sniffnoy: this sounds circular
(20:28:32) JP math nut: 'cause it's been there forever
(20:28:41) Sniffnoy: but it's not wrong, now is it?
(20:29:10) JP math nut: are the interrobang and hammer-and-sickle still unicode characters?
(20:29:16) Sniffnoy: yeah
(20:29:18) Sniffnoy: oh
(20:29:20) Sniffnoy: wait
(20:29:21) Sniffnoy: d'oh
(20:29:27) Sniffnoy: OK, it's wrong :P
(20:29:49) Sniffnoy: but then it's not really out of date, since it was never right in the first place
(20:31:05) JP math nut: and the school still has a Ds periodic table and the rest of your (really old) profile is still there

(20:31:16) JP math nut: ok, wtf?!
(20:31:22) JP math nut: i just had a download tell me
(20:31:26) JP math nut: it had 1:60 left

I was the first one to buy anything on Nomicron's Market! I bought 4 lb of oranges and 4 robots.

[referring to the total amount of stuff bought so far]
(20:53:25) Sniffnoy: 8 pounds of oranges, 14 robots, and 7 m^2 of tapestry
(20:53:46) cielnuit99: tapestry?
(20:53:50) Sniffnoy: yup
(20:53:54) cielnuit99: you say that like "tapestry" is a material.
(20:54:02) Sniffnoy: *shrugs*
(20:54:05) Sniffnoy: I didn't come up with this
(20:54:05) cielnuit99: its like saying "7 m^s of paintings"
(20:54:09) cielnuit99: who did?
(20:54:59) Sniffnoy: JediSquid, apparently
(20:55:23) Sniffnoy: anyway it's not like you can just count robots like that either :P
(20:55:43) cielnuit99: haha
(20:55:58) cielnuit99: yeah, I'd like 1375.8 pounds of robot

Currently there's some debate over whether people should be allowed to buy ninjas on the market.

Mr. Demeter got a DVD with all those - I don't know what you call them, he referred to them as "Cold War videos" - videos such as Duck and Cover that they would show in classrooms during the Cold War. I actually watched Duck and Cover. It's really funny. In ways that it's not supposed to be, I mean. :P Tomorrow's Reading Day, so I can watch the rest of them... :D
