So to GM yesterday, Toreun took...
DAS BUCH!

The book's in German, obviously, but there was an English translation. It's this whole book of alternate games and scenarios and variants for SoC. (With extra materials for them.) We played one especially weird one[0] called "Catan Express". In it there were no roads, only railroads, which went from centers of hexes to intersections of 3 hexes... and you could only build settlements where railroads *didn't* connect, rather than where they did. And at the end there's a race with the trains over the railroads to get to the watertowers.
...yeah.
Hehe, so many people were giving us this "That is *not* how you play Settlers" look. Nick shouted "Das BUCH!" a lot. Shouting "Das BUCH!" is fun. You should try it. :D
At first it was me vs Nick vs "drunk guy" (whose, name, IIRC, later turned out to be "Steve") vs some guy with black fingernails who didn't actually know how to play normal Settlers and was quickly confused. Later he dropped out and tons replaced him.
The game was neat, but honestly not so neat that I actually minded when tons threw the game to drunk guy Steve at the end. :P It also took a long time to clean up.
