Can anyone identify this book?
Jul. 1st, 2011 01:39 amTake a look at this post on /r/tipofmytongue. I was surprised to see this because I know I read this book too! Pretty much all the details he mentions I remember. But I don't have any idea what it is either, and neither does anyone else, it seems.
Unrelatedly, when I was a kid I read Wizard's Hall, by Jane Yolen, but for quite some time thereafter I couldn't remember its name. When I tried describing it to my sister ("No, really! There's a quilt monster!") she thought I was making it up.
Even more unrelatedly, there is a ladybug larva crawling around on my computer. It's pretty neat.
Other things that have happened: I've made it back to The Guy, this time with all the secret items. I had to look up #6, though - I don't think there's any way I would have found that on my own. (And as I said earlier I had to look up hints for #3 and #5, though #5 I kind of suspected.) This time I have all summer to beat him, though it shouldn't take nearly that long... already I've made it to what I think is the final stage of the fight (with the reflective eyebrows)... at least I hope it's the final stage. Also Josh and I have submitted our cut down integer complexity paper to INTEGERS, hopefully they like it. No confirmation message from them, a bit unsettling...
