The title quote has nothing to do with the rest of this entry.
Well. Today was another one of those awful pep rallies. My ears, just barely, still hurt.
At lunch, Mike (doing his AP chem homework) asked why CiS has a higher boiling point than LiF. Someone (actually I think it was Mike himself) suggested "an act of God". The answer is of course that CiS is network while LiF is ionic, but it gave me an idea: a religion based on worshiping[0] covalent bonds! Then I realized that was a pretty stupid idea, and instead just settled for trying to come up with a name for a god of covalent bonds. I couldn't think up anything good, though, and neither, later, could Dr. Ostfeld. Mike suggested "Coco", which, while completely awful, is at least better than the nothing that everyone else came up with.
A few other happenings, as told to Mickey:
(20:10:28) Sniffnoy: would you say that cool people tend to have gloves thrown at them? :P
(20:10:47) Grenadier 32: That all depends on how generous the glove owners are.
(20:11:37) Sniffnoy: yah... Elana started singing an awful song which I will not give any hint as to what it is
(20:11:43) Sniffnoy: so I started throwing my gloves at her
(20:12:04) Sniffnoy: and she said, "That's OK, it's a cool song" - or something approximating that
(20:12:17) Sniffnoy: "OK Elana. You go be cool. I'll go throw gloves at you."
(20:12:31) Sniffnoy: "That's OK, it's cool to have gloves thrown at you."
(20:34:08) Sniffnoy: oh boy...
(20:34:35) Sniffnoy: another player trying to win Nomicron by simply declaring that they win and trying to find a loophole in the rules that makes this valid
(20:34:57) Grenadier 32: How often does that occur?
(20:35:09) Sniffnoy: well, it's happened at least once before in this round
(20:35:20) Sniffnoy: though only once, I believe
(20:35:44) Grenadier 32: Wow, I suddenly want to join and do that
(20:36:37) Sniffnoy: Good luck. After Rubric tried it, I really don't think it'd stand up
(20:37:05) Sniffnoy: It's been pretty thoroughly debated
(20:37:05) Grenadier 32: ...
(20:37:10) Grenadier 32: The point is not winning!
(20:37:16) Grenadier 32: It's pissing people off! :)
(20:37:22) Sniffnoy: LOL, that it would do
(20:38:05) Sniffnoy: though I think The Rules may actually have a valid point here - well, I think it's unlikely, but he seems to actually have this planned out...
(20:38:17) Grenadier 32: I'd like to see if it's possible to be banned from Nomicron :)
(20:38:36) Grenadier 32: Well, of course it is
(20:38:42) Grenadier 32: But still! :-D
(20:38:50) Sniffnoy: ...given that they can always just make a rule that bans you. :)
(20:39:15) Grenadier 32: I'll send in proposals like "Rules do not need to be obeyed."
(20:39:20) Sniffnoy: hehe
(20:39:42) Sniffnoy: of course, by Rule 109 (which really needs to be redone), that rule would be entirely void since it contradicts Rule 1
(20:39:49) Grenadier 32: ...
(20:40:39) Grenadier 32: STILL! :-D
(20:42:04) Sniffnoy: yah, we have this little loophole
(20:42:22) Sniffnoy: which is that normally you need unanimous consent to amend an immutable
(20:42:34) Sniffnoy: but if you do it by a Triviality, you can do it with only a 4/5 majority
(20:42:48) Sniffnoy: so Breadman submitted a triviality, modifying rule 108, I believe
(20:43:03) Sniffnoy: the Triviality was called "Whistling in the Dark"
(20:43:21) Sniffnoy: and it simply said to remove the phrases "either" and "or immutable" from rule 108
(20:43:37) Sniffnoy: which would, of course, make the first sentence of Rule 108 state
(20:43:47) Sniffnoy: "All Rules are mutable." :D
(20:43:51) Grenadier 32: Heh.
(20:44:29) Sniffnoy: oh boy
(20:44:36) Sniffnoy: this is interesting
(20:44:42) Sniffnoy: he's not claiming what he just did is legal
(20:44:57) Sniffnoy: he's claiming its legality cannot be determined, and therefore he should win by paradox
(20:46:29) Sniffnoy: hm... I don't think this will succeed
(20:49:14) Sniffnoy: he's claiming this based entirely on one rule, Rule 113... ignoring all the other rules is definitely a bad idea... :P
ADDENDUM[3]: The next target is announced! Ye Olde Card Shoppe will be destroyed at the end of the turn!

[0]Why doesn't that word have 2 'p's?
[3]Why does "addendum" mean something that *has* been added, when literally the word is Latin for "to be added"?
