Graaargh. Got the computer back today see comments on previous entry). The result is... not exactly victory. Much is recovered, but much is lost. And with so much junk on my hard drive, well, I shouldn't have been surprised to see that much of what was recovered was junk. Many of the specific files I was looking for were lost. All my integer complexity stuff would be lost if not for the fact that I had backed that up - unfortunately, as I've mentioned before, that's all that I backed up.

Hm - I need to determine if my private key was recovered! Else I'll have to generate a new keypair. Not that that matters much, seeing as I don't really need encryption for anything right now, but...

Well, at least this one has directory structure and actual filenames, so that tedium is spared me, at least.

Also, apparently part of the problem was that my HD kept spontaneously shutting down? :-/
