We have a dog! Kayla's dog Skye has come to live with us here in Truth House. I think this was the plan for a while but the house only got around to approving it now. Though this means now we can't leave the kitchen doors open.
Squirrels! I thought the squirrels in Chicago were friendly, but the ones here are ridiculous. They'll get very close to you, and it's kind of scary, as I distinctly remember my mom warning me that squirrels won't get that close to a person unless they're rabid. But here, they will, which makes me wonder how I would go about detecting and avoiding rabid squirrels. (Well, other than just avoiding letting squirrels get that close in general, which is actually a pretty good solution and what I've been using. Not that I have any idea how common rabid squirrels might be.) Yesterday I even a squirrel climb onto a person's shoe! And it didn't bite him, either.
Ducks! I saw a pair of ducks on the diag the other day; the male was quacking constantly. There were no other ducks around so I have to wonder what he might have been signalling. A bit far from any water. There is a river around here though, no? I've yet to see it.
