...honestly, things are pretty boring. You know what this place is lacking? Enormous central lounge! I don't know why so many people don't like Pierce; the enormous central lounge in each house makes the place great. We've got our big "living room", but people don't really congregate there during the day, there's certainly no perpetual Smash game or anything resembling it. Indeed though we have our public spaces none of them ever seems to hold a large number of people outside of organized events. I'm told Aubrey "played board games every night" but he must have had to like, actually *organize* it. (On that note, thankfully, Dan[0] has stopped trying to claim that I'm the new Aubrey.) People have other video games but they're all in their rooms, whose doors are usually closed. Not many of us seem to use doorstops of any sort.

Ah well. Good things: Turns out Get Your Game On hosts game nights on Thursdays and Saturdays. Guess I'll start going to those. (Thought: Reason I never really went to the board game club[3] at Chicago was because I'm not going to leave my home if there's enough to do there, and there almost always was in Tufts House. Actually, it makes it kind of hard to work here - I like to work where there's stuff going on, something to distract me. But here it seems there hardly ever is, or at least hardly ever one I would care to be distracted by.) Speaking of GYGO, whatever happened with that idea of me going to the Zendikar prerelease? ...yeah, that would have required waking up. Ah well. Not giving up on that idea of playing Magic again once I see how much money I have, though. They actually sell there a "restart your collection" deal of... well, I forget, but it was some huge number of (presumably random) commons and uncommons for like $8, which sounds pretty good. In any case boardgames are not something I have to buy more of. Though now that I may actually be playing them more often, I may want to get one or two more - I haven't in several years. Except actually probably little need for that, if the people I'll be playing against will be bringing them... so yay.

ADDENDUM about 2 hours later: Actually, I should probably also note, the first few weeks, I was basically never in my office save for office hours, now this is causing me to go hang out there more often...

[0]Not ADan, who does not live here, but Dan Zemke, who does.
[3]That I incidentally sort of helped start!

Instead of using up large sums of money on Magic cards, why not use Apprentice instead? It's not quite up to date, but it's much better for evil wish-fulfillment decks, and I know some people who would play with you...

...in all probability, I'm probably just not going to play Magic. It costs money, I have plenty else to do, and Apprentice is pretty eh last I checked. But yes, good idea to keep in mind.
