Further notes before we begin
Jun. 28th, 2009 12:08 amAs for the 3 second-year classes this year, we have Rosenberg teaching Geometry and Symmetry, as always; Margie this year doing Topics in Linear Algebra; and finally Combinatorics, taught not by Ira Gessel but rather Henry Cohn. Interesting.
Watson is returning for a 4th year, FWIW. Lucas is his counselor. (Lucas and Ila are head counselors this year, did I mention that?)
Somehow the Simplex lock lab has snuck back in. We can try to do what we did last year, and try to avoid actually setting anyone to do it. There are also a number of ridiculous-looking Gunnells labs once again[0]...
Is Josh a T² again this year? I have no idea. He is around I know - after all, he does go to school here now! If he is a T² again, it seems he's not doing what he did last year and living among us anyway, though, as I haven't seen him. Presumably he'll show up tomorrow.
Tim is our only JC this year. Initial meeting today at the barbecue where stuff is explained to all of us, a recurring joke is that if there's something you can't do, get Tim to do it. When the sheet is passed around to sign up for times to man Melville lounge, because of Sunday counselor meetings, Tim is already signed up in the Sunday 10:00-12:00 spot. When this is pointed out, Tim responds, "Please, if I have any choices, feel free to make them for me."

[0]To avoid making second-years feel they have to do a research lab, the terms "exploration lab" and "research lab" are now deprecated. As are the terms "first-year lab" and "second-year lab" when referring to actual labs; these now refer only to meeting times.
