TANSTAAFL weirdness

sniffnoySo TANSTAAFL has finally opened this year - Dani opened it this past Wednesday, but some things are a bit odd. In particular, Dani's the only one operating it. Huh? Shouldn't you, like, hire some other people to work it for you? I don't have the money, she says.
Now that doesn't make a lot of sense; to my knowledge, nothing in the arrangement with PTC has changed since previous years. Vanessa had to work the counter herself often last year, but that was (IINM) due to not enough people willing to work there, or perhaps time to find them. But how can she have not enough money - to hire anyone, even - when she should have the same amount that Vanessa had last year, that Sean had 3 years ago?
Due to her doing everything herself, hours are understandably reduced - 10 to 1, and not on Sundays, it seems (though she didn't put up a sign noting that last bit anywhere); but it fundamentally doesn't make sense that she should be doing everything herself. Stock is also reduced, again, we're told, due to not enough money.
Has something changed since previous years? Laura, do you know? What's going on here?
