On the list of things to write entries about, one was "final", but there's very little to write about that.

One thing worth noting, however, is that just as Vlad decided to specifically avoid what he was strong in on the midterm - namely rigor - he did the same thing on the final. Although with no rigor section, what that meant was that he did only numericals. Well, it's no secret that he did pretty badly as a result. Turns out he's not much good at computation, apparently.

But it was pretty funny. I almost feel like he should have gotten joke plus points.

Oh, wait, no, one other thing. Sam Lite got amazing amounts of minus points for decorating the cover of his blue book with all sorts of Harry Potter stuff, including drawings of the characters, of Hogwarts (with a greenhouse, and some sort of beast (I forget what) named Fergie living in the lake), a Quidditch match between various counselors... yeah.

One other was "Mafia". I actually didn't play Mafia this year, except for one game. Josh repeatedly calls Mafia a stupid game, but I don't agree. Still, watching - well, actually, not watching, just being in the same room as - some of the games this year, I get some of what he's complaining about. People shouting, hopping around the floor... really, guys, it's just a game. I don't remember that being typical of it in past years, but of course Josh will say it's a stupid game anyway. However I'd like to point out that the one game I did play, I was a townsperson, and I was able to, purely by analyzing voting, pick out Zev as Mafia even though no suspicion had been cast on him before then. (Actually, I concluded either Satvik or Zev was Mafia, but Zev was the one we went after as a result, and he ended up being Mafia... so it's not as good as I wrote it at first, but still a good play on my part, I think.) Normally I don't play a very good townsperson, but the small number of players and the close votes let me get a lot of information. So, yay.

Mafia's not always a stupid game, however, several of the first years whose names shall not be mentioned *cough cough* Andrew *cough* took it WAY to seriously and turned the game into a shouting match which really ruined the game for me. I godded for a lot of the games but by the end I couldn't even stand watching them play. I did enjoy the second year mafia we played but I got killed on the second night >.

I enjoyed mafia less and less after the first few years. I'm a little hesitant to claim that this is because it actually got worse, though. That would sound a bit like "back in my day, shit was better", and I like to be suspicious of statements like that. Also, that sort of attitude on the part of the players might be part of the reason that I liked it less. (Yeah, I'm probably as guilty of this as anyone else.)

Anyway, it could be that I just slowly grew out of the game. It's probably a combination, though, of a change in the way the game gets played, and a change in my likes and dislikes.
