A constant function and an ex are walking down the street. They notice in the distance a differential operator. "Crap," says the constant function, "I'm out of here." The ex doesn't care, of course, and keeps on walking. Eventually it gets close enough to get a better look at it, and gasps. "Oh no! It's a ∂/∂y!"
