The Smash Tourney

So there was a Smash tournament at Maclean yesterday. It was Melee, of course, so I wouldn't have stood a chance if I had entered (actually, Rick entered, so I could have at least beat him... but probably noone else), but I went to watch. Well, I had gotten up maybe around 11 PM that day, so by the end of the doubles I was honestly falling asleep and didn't stay for the singles.

Aaron went, intending to enter in the singles, but decided not to when he found out how long it was going to take. Just from playing against and watching the people there, though, he estimates he was probably about the 5th or 6th best there. I thought Jack would enter but he didn't show up.

It wasn't very tournament-like, I have to say. No big "THESE ARE THE RULES, THIS IS THE FORMAT, HERE ARE THE STANDINGS, THESE GUYS ARE PLAYING OVER HERE, WE START NOW" announcements or anything. You wanted to see the standings, you went over to the computer and looked at them on the tournament software itself! I had no idea it was a double-elimination tournament until I looked at the bracket display, I never knew which people made up which team, and when it started, I didn't even realize it had! Well, it worked, regardless.

Also, where the hell can I get some matzah around here?!

That's the thing, the co-op is where I got it last year, but yesterday I go there and there's this big "closed while we turn it into something else" thing up.

...right, there's also the 55th street one. I suppose I'll have to go there, then.

The Co-Op had matzah last year and should again this (and every) year (being a pretty reliable grocery store). Also, they have it at meals at BJ... usually somewhat hidden/tucked away and in a different location (god knows why) every time, but it's there. They probably should have it at Pierce, too - have you asked any of your servers? BJ had it but forgot to put it out until I asked... now they think I'm an expert on everything Jewish, which is really funny. Also also, Hillel sells real (as in, tasty and fresh and soft) matzah every year, but I think you need to order it beforehand. So now you know for next year... or still could ask about this year, in case they have extra.
