So here Nick and I were, walking down the street, and there's an old woman sitting outside with a dog. And of course my first thought is, "Ooh! Dog! Is he friendly?" but then I notice that she's saying to him, over and over, "Let them pass... let them pass..."
Also, I am *not* playing TTR again. Gah. I played it once at Gil's, thought it was really boring, but, you know, everyone likes TTR, so today I gave it another shot (not the same version, incidentally - that one was Europe, this one was Marklin), and I *still* thought it was really boring. Gah.
Traders of Genoa was cool, though. As a trading game, much more interesting than Settlers. Settlers is fun, but though it's usually called a trading game, it seems there's not much skill to the trading. In Traders of Genoa there definitely is. I had no idea what was going on or what anyone's relative strengths were most of the time, admittedly, and I got utterly killed, but it was still pretty fun.
I wanted to play Falsche Fuffziger but we didn't get the chance.
So Gil was saying about Wag the Wolf - so Alea actually is thinking of publishing the game, but they want to change the theme. Alea always does historical games. I should note here, Wag the Wolf is about media networks causing panic among the populace by predicting how the world's going to end. And they want to give it a historical theme! The theory is that a historical theme is safe, and while predicting how the world's going to end is certainly a great theme for the game, people will be reluctant to buy a game with a wacky theme simply because there's so many games out there that try to use a wacky theme to make up for bad gameplay. Meh. It'll be cool to see Wag the Wolf published, but I want it to be about predicting how the world's going to end! :-/
