Well, it had to happen eventually...

I knocked the right mirror loose entering the garage.

Of course, I told my mom I did this by not paying attention, which was true. She seems to have interpreted this as "not paying enough attention". :-/ ...it's not hard to bring a car into a garage. Had I been paying attention, it would not have been a problem. No, the problem was that I was not paying attention. As in not any. Just going in, not checking either side, and going too fast at that. Because obviously it's something that I've done many times and doesn't require much thought, right? Apparently, not at all. Whoops.

For now it's just taped up; I wanted to check that the control still worked, but Mom decided against it (no idea why). So I'm going to have to paint it over, of course, and will also have to pay for the repair - well, unless we just leave it taped up (which is what I would probably do, but I don't own the car). (Hey, cars used to not *have* right mirrors.) I'm told it could cost as much as $150. For a stupid mirror?! The reason being, of course, that modern cars fail at modularity (or so I'm told). IINM, the mirror is largely built-in to the car. Gah.

Well, I suppose that wasn't anywhere near as bad as it could have been.

Oh man, my father, brother and I have all knocked off the right mirror on the family car at least once.
Actually, I managed to pop it off only minutes before my driving test (nearly gave my father a heart attack), but fortunately it's the kind where you can just snap it back into place.
