sniffnoyWell, I finally heard back from PROMYS. No counselorship for me.
As for the housing lottery. I ended up taking Aaron's room. It's a small, but I didn't feel like disrupting the blocs. :P And, as Chris pointed out, it's near both the bathrooms *and* the lounge.
So apparently they decided to allow people to take Ian Bailey's and Semere's room. I should probably explain this. These two rooms are not exactly normal rooms - they're actually extensions of the RH apartment which are used as normal rooms (though they're very large) if the RHs have less than 2 kids (I forget how many kids they need to have to claim both rooms, and which order they're reclaimed for the RHs in). It was thought that since we don't know who the RHs will be next year, we wouldn't be allowed to pick them, but that wasn't the case. Instead, if they are to be reclaimed for the RH, whoever got them will simply get kicked out and put in another room (presumably a double with a first-year). :P However, Bill says none of the current RH candidates have more than 1 kid.
(What follows, relating to where those not staying in Tufts are going, is simply the last thing I've heard. If you know differently, please correct this.)
So. The fourth-years are graduating. Of the third-years, Rachel is staying, while the rest are getting apartments. Not sure how Matt fits in there. Of the second-years, Goetz, Tancer, and Appie are staying, while the rest are getting apartments. As for the first-years:
Those who are staying are me, Jim, Kinnucan, Grant, Katy, Shuo, Ginny, Girl Alex, Maria, Charlotte, Kate, Chris Powers, Najda, Emily Feldman, Jacob, Lulu, Mark, Colleen, Boy Sam, Summer, Ian, Boy Alex, and Marissa. Shuo is getting a double with Summer, and Marissa is pulling in some friend of hers from another house (from what I could tell, her first name is pronounced like "Britain"), while Ian, Sam, and Boy Alex, are taking their chances with a first-year roommate. The rest of us have singles. All those not staying are getting apartments, except for Meg and SB, who intend to move to Blackstone, and Emily Lu, who intends to move to Breck and room with Sara but reserved a room in Tufts anyway (meaning that there's going to be some weird room fiddling should she not stay), and, of course, Felipe, who is going back to his school in Brazil.
At this point I'd like to make a note of those people who were in Tufts earlier in the year but left -
Brian: He left school in the first quarter, but returned in the second to end up in MacLean.
Peng: Moved to MacLean.
Amy: Left UChicago to go to India.
Boz: Returned home to Philadelphia, intends to come back next year and live in Hitchcock and room with some girl by the name of "Margot" who is hated by a bunch of the second-years.
Christine: Moved to Flint.
Sharon: Moved to Woodward.
Lea: Moved to Woodward.
Frank: Moved to Alper, but still visits.
Jack: Unfairly kicked out of housing. Not allowed to visit. :(
(Where these people will be living next year, I have no idea, except of course for Jack. Well, and Boz.)
So that's that. Unless it's not.
