My mom has suggested that perhaps the groundhogs-climbing-trees we've seen are actually the first of an entirely new race of groundhogs-that-can-climb-trees, and we are witnessing the beginning of a major event in the evolution of the groundhog.

...or perhaps groundhogs have always climbed trees and we just didn't notice it.

Of course not!
You know all those tissues harry has?
they're to keep away the groundhogs!
that's why they run up trees, away from his tissues....
harry, try throwing a tissue into the tree and see if the groundhog falls out.....
-Avi, with cheeriness and amusement at your discovering a novel species of groundhog.

Whoa, groundhogs climb trees? That's a little too bizarre. Maybe youre just observing extremely obese squirrels.
Also, who is this oracle and what did he/she say?

great, now I'm addicted to this thing.
People ask some dumb things, but I got to answer a couple of palindromic questions with plaindromic answers.
