Kongai, using my new deck (Anex w/Charm, Higashi w/Insignia, Rumiko w/Scroll). He's using Corny w/Tome, Vanessa w/Phylac, and Anex w/Charm. His Anex is dead, as is my Rumiko. Higashi is at 24, Anex is at about 32 (I guess 31 exactly, really); on the other side, Vanessa is at something very low (9 or so) while Corny is at (by my calculations of how things must have been) 47.
Note: I'm not remembering the numbers too well, so where the exact numbers aren't too important to the story, I may have them wrong.
Higashi vs. Corny at close. Corny at 50 energy, having just spent 50 to get close; Higashi isn't so high on energy either. Hardly matters. Open Palm, Corny at 20, no interrupt, Voidstream, Higashi at 9, Tome triggers, Higashi dies, Corny at 29.
I bring in Anex, now at 32. Get far. Now I'm down quite a lot on health, but - I figure - I've got it won. I've got the Valkyrie's Charm equipped, after all; and I can Boomerang 3 times, he gets hit whether he flees or not, meanwhile since I'm faster and Corny dies in two hits, I'll take only one hit, not enough to kill; and then Vanessa dies in one. Maybe not quite in that order if he switches, but then he's in even worse shape.
Boomerang, Corny at 6; Voidstream, Anex at 11. Tome triggers. Shit. Anex at 1, Corny at 16. Nevermind. I may be on 1 health on my last character, I've still got this won! Boomerang vs. Voidstream, Boomerang hits first, he's dead. (Also, going down to 1 triggered my increased damage ability, not that I need it at this point.)
He brings in Vanessa, who is well within Boomerang range. And if he gets close, a Chakra Slash is enough to kill him too. Either way I win - except for one wildcard, his Phylactery. (Or, you know, if I just miss. But I wasn't thinking about that.)
He gets close. Chakra Slash. I note he's picked Double Slash. Mine hits... and the Phylactery triggers! Vanessa at 1, Double Slash hits, I'm dead.
So, when I was about to win with only one character left and only 1 health, he won with only one character left and only 1 health! See title.
