So, house meeting yesterday being the first of the quarter, time for house elections. Not that any voting was done as each position had only one person running. Sean stayed president with no competition, Mark became VP, and, well, I became secretary. Someone nominated me, I forget who, I accepted, figuring, well, I suppose I'd do a better job than Pavel or Toney (who also stopped taking notes after the first few weeks), and... noone else ran, so I'm secretary.

Man, posting the minutes takes a lot of paper. See, the way it works is you put up the minutes in the bathroom stalls. There are 12 of these, so that's 12 pages times 10 weeks makes 120 sheets of paper (and yesterday I needed 2 pages, so I used 24 sheets of paper!). I'd ask to be reimbursed by the house, but the house only has money, no paper. So I'll just ask people to give me paper. I mean, if I can just get 10 people to give me 12 sheets each, or something along those lines...

So the Maroon did do an article on the Jack incident. Very nice how they put all the information condemning Jack on the front page, and everything supporting him inside. :-/

Once more I must resort to a protected entry. Because I am paranoid, it will be restricted to a far smaller subset of my LJ friends than is actually necessary (indeed, simple friends-protection would probably suffice, but I like to be a bit more certain; certainly noone from Chicago will see this entry until it is unprotected!). It will remain protected for as long as is necessary for me to be sure I can't get in trouble for it (of course, it's a minor thing, but we've seen what's happened with minor things recently...)

Anyway, so yesterday the non-randomized seniority list went up. It's a list of all the people in the house, sorted first by seniority (number of quarters in the house) and then alphabetically (it also lists number of quarters in the college, but this doesn't seem to actually be used). Sunday night is the randomization, where all seniority ties will be resolved randomly. The randomization is distinct from the misnamed lottery, which is in May, and where the only random element is that which was already decided at the randomization. The alphabetical list goes up before randomization so people can check it and make corrections.

As for the prank. Mark suggested we ought to add Jack onto the list. Not as a handmade correction, of course, but actually recreating the list but with Jack on it. And, well, I actually did it. The list was clearly made in MS Word, so it was too hard to recreate it with the same (despite some frustration with how Word handles tables). I wasn't sure as to the font sizes - I estimated that everything was the default 12 (we compared my duplicate to the original before swapping them, of course; I think it's safe to say that we got that right), the title I put at 14 (also right) and the table headings I put at 10 (this was wrong; they were 12, just like the text below them, but I had to change it to get it all to fit. Well, actually, I didn't, but I'll get back to that).

Now, the original list was 2 pages; originally I was also going to make a 2 page list and replace both pages, with, if I got it right, one more name on the second page than before (due to the spillover from the first), and different names at the beginning of the first/end of the second than on the original. Eventually, after some frustration with the tables, I decided to make it just one page, though this would mean squeezing one more name into the same space.

Upon printing and comparison, the big difference between the two was the top margin. The Thistlethwaites used a much larger top margin than I did. D'oh! I didn't want to go changing it again, though (thinking here of changing the font size on the table headings), so we put it up as is. Also, because Mark thought the pushpin should go in the same place as the original, there's now an additional hole from where I originally put it in. Honestly, I think people will more likely notice that than an out of place pushpin, but I don't think either is reason for suspicion.

The original was torn up and thrown in the garbage. So far, the list has not been altered (though it hasn't exactly been very long).
