Where's the Boston cream pie? :-/
Jun. 18th, 2005 08:58 pmSo today my family went to eat at this restaurant at the Paramus golf course, and, while we were waiting for some things, I thought to get up and wander around a bit.
The first time I got up, I was quickly accosted by a Japanese girl of about 6 or 7, who asked if I would play with her. I said sure, and it turned out what she was actually doing was cleaning golf balls. She demonstrated for me on a ball she already had, and then we ran out onto the practice grounds, grabbed a golf ball each, and then took them back to the golf ball cleaner and cleaned them (at least somewhat). Then she got distracted by something else and I went back to our table.
The second time I got up, I found a little girl crying and her father standing over her trying to help, and her similarly-aged brother standing around. Apparently she had been running around barefoot and had stepped on a tee, and it had gotten stuck quite deep in her foot. I wanted to help, but the people there couldn't even seem to agree on what to do, I certainly had no idea. Meanwhile the little boy was shouting to call an ambulance, and I heard someone say "Don't try to take it out, it's in too deep," and it was just chaos. The man called for his wife - at least I assume she was his wife - and this is the really disturbing part of all this, because she took quite a while in getting there, and then she started to say it's his fault this happened! And here he is, trying to pick her up so he can carry her to the car so they can take her to the hospital, and she's talking about whose fault it is?! I mean, this is her own daughter! His "Shut up!"s got pretty loud pretty quickly. He did manage to carry her to the car; I just hope she's OK.
