sniffnoy: (Chu-Chu Zig)
Today on the road, as I neared a school, I saw a sign that said "slow school". Now that's not very nice...

Sometime I ought to just drive around Bergen County. It always amazes me how big it is. All these roads that go so far... and still I stay within the county! Or not far from it. Highways mask the size of things with their dull, unchanging backgrounds. Highways are not places; they are between places. Local streets, however, show me that I should probably not try to imagine the size of the entire state.

I had, for quite a while, wanted to drive the full length of Maple Ave (and its continuations, of course), just to see where it went. Upon consulting a map, I found it went right into New York state! Its other end was not so clear; maybe I should still do that sometime.

And rivers! Small rivers are inescapable, travelling long distances here. There is, of course, the Saddle River, but many others. Or maybe they are just me reintersecting the Saddle River. Well, not all of them can be, surely. Who knows? Maybe I should see a map. I would like to follow a river sometime, though the roads don't go that way. I suppose I'd probably be trespasing if I went on foot. Oh well. On the road you see footbridges; where do they go? I never did try following too far the path that connects the county parks. No, that's not true, actually - but eventually it splits and I took one way and I found myself right by the intersection of Saddle River Road and Century. Amazing, these twisty paths.

And where does that footbridge in the park go? I was told it was the one way to go directly from Glen Rock to Paramus; is that true? The maps haven't helped me on this one.

I used to ride my bike around the G streets. Crazy, they are. Once I accidentally ran into the F streets, and the B streets. They're not so large as the G streets, of course. Who knew even one town was so big? I once happened across a strange intersection at a bridge. I don't think I've seen that spot since.

You wouldn't think you could hide a golf course. They're rather large and noticeable. But even with all the places the roads can take you, there is still so much space between them. I remember my parents telling me something about a golf course hidden somewhere nearby.

That pool on Paramus road - whatever happened to it? Not that I've ever seen it open; I mean, how did it use to be, and how did it end up in its current state?

Strange things...

-Sniffnoy (of course, I'll never have the chance to go to Omar's now)
