There is room for no more than one more person on the Salmon!

Today at QB practice, for the second time, we tried using a packet that Chris had written, rather than one of the ones we bought from NAQT.

In response to what happened last time[0], Chris included a question whose answer was "Antwerp". Nobody gets it... a second or so passes... finally, someone on the other team guesses, "Antwerp?" And we all hit ourselves.

There were some complaints that some of the other questions were wrong, though, or actually I think it was just his bonus about sarin gas. Well, there was one other thing, which of course only I noticed.:P He wrote one bonus asking for the "smallest ring that is not a field". He had forgotten that fields are by definition nontrivial, and so the answer is actually the trivial ring. (The answer he intended was Z4; however, afterwards I realized that's not actually right, as there's also Z2×Z2.)

Also, on the final tossup, he read the word "Yosemite" as if it were Japanese. :P

Oh, we've got a new person on the quizbowl team, too: Bonnie. Also (*wince*) Brian Lee, who amazingly managed to not be totally obnoxious for much of the game.

Oh, we're going to organize another intramural this year, as well as a separate teachers' tournament. (The teachers will be in teams of only 2, so we get a reasonable number.)

We apparently missed both Bloomfield and Millburn, but yes, we are going to KIP. :P

Oh, here you can find a copy of the Lit essay that George got a 0 on. Thanks to Vadim for putting it up.

[0]He wrote a question that placed Antwerp in the Netherlands (rather than Belgium).
