Why butter is better than margarine

Margarine is disgusting. I mean, it tastes fine (well not as good as butter, but that's not my point), but it's disgusting to look at. It's so soft. It's nauseating. You can just imagine it wiggling back and forth disgustingly. It's even worse when you actually get a knife and spread the thing. You see it practically sliding against itself. It really makes me sick, and that's not a good thing in a food, for obvious reasons. Butter... well, I must admit I wish butter were as easy to spread as margarine - well, no, not quite so easy to spread, because then it probably be just as disgusting. But at least you can look at it and not think, "Ew! This is pure fat I'm eating!" At least it there's some real resistance when you stick the knife in it, so you don't start wondering about just whether it's a solid or liquid or what. *shudder*

(There's no butter here, and we don't go home till tomorrow.)

The last person I knew who liked butter this much (a former teacher) sat down and ate a few buckets of it...

They didn't like butter much after this.

Moral is, you are destined to eat 3 buckets of butter and die from heart failure :-)

It's not so much that I like butter (in fact normally I don't use it at all (though I do still like butter)) as it is that there's essentially nothing else I can think of to put on matza, since I won't eat cream cheese, and I'm not going to eat matza pizza in the morning. Oh wait, tomorrow's not Pesach - in fact it's not Pesach *now*, what do I need butter for? I can eat cereal tomorrow. Yay! Nevermind.

Yeah, well, try eating butter-flavored "product" that doesn't even melt when you put it in the toaster oven. Scary. My mom had this shit that had a picture on it of a woman doing aerobics. I spread it on the toast and it didn't melt, so I put the toast *with it on it* back in the toaster and it just sat there!! Not melting. I felt like I was eating plastic.

Anyway, yeah, matzah is really good with butter, but you could also try jelly, peanut butter, hummus, chip dip,... I guess that's all really. :/

For a long time, people used margarine because it was supposed to be healthier. It turns out margarine is, if anything, less healthy than butter (and perhaps more dangerous because people perceive it to be healthy and therefore employ more of it).

If ease of spreading is the issue, there's always whipped butter, you know; it's available at supermarkets everywhere.
