Improvements
Feb. 17th, 2009 12:42 amFirstly: WHOO I GOT INTO MICHIGAN! Rejected from Princeton, though. (Also, I think I neglected to mention that sometime back I got an email from Rutgers saying I was almost certainly in... but being from New Jersey I was kind of counting on that.)
Secondly: Yay we have Brawl again! And man have I degenerated, not having played it since first quarter! Disappointingly, not many people seem to be playing, but it's better than the dismal state Smash was in earlier this quarter. (Also, my earlier entry stating that "Halo is the new Smash" in Tufts turned out to be, uh, false. Well, I guess the analogy is appropriate if I meant, say, Smash as of last year, but I was thinking more of 1st year or 2nd year. Of course, comparing Halo to Smash also fails in other ways, in that the former we play on a team and the latter we play against each other, and that they're entirely different sorts of games, but those weren't what I was talking about...)
Thirdly: Normally I'm reluctant to buy something that someone *else* is going to get to keep, but when you consider what else you can get for $10, Mega Man 9 seems worth it. So I paid Graeme $10 and we have Mega Man 9 now. And Youlian paid Graeme $10 and we have Geometry Wars 2 now. You know what else I noticed is on XBLA? Metal Slug 3. But if I do that, though, it won't be now...
So far I've beaten Galaxy Man and Concrete Man, each with just the Mega Buster; I haven't reached the boss in any of the other levels yet. Meanwhile I don't think I've played Kongai in like a week. I get the idea I'm not going to be playing it much right now - though I certainly intend to get back to it, with an improved deck. I just am not sure what that deck might be...
Also, Nori's problem sets have been surprisingly easy so far. There was only one I didn't finish (!) and even on it there were only 2 I didn't get. I get the idea I should be afraid of what's to come or something. :P The class, however, is getting quite rapid... we're doing completions of rings right now and I think it's safe to say that at this point there's at least *something* each lecture I don't catch and have to review. (Meanwhile I've basically stopped going to ODEs except to hand in homework.)

Date: 2009-02-18 02:28 pm (UTC)I dunno, every time a grown-up interacts with me now, it seems their first question is what am I doing after graduation, followed closely with "Oh, what's your first choice?" when I tell them I've applied to grad school. I've had to at least pretend-think about it some.
