Did I mention this here? The house voted a while back to buy a new TV - I objected, on the basis that, with the adapter, we had 2 perfectly good ones already. Oh gee, apparently the downstairs one has some brightness problems, i.e., the brightness has to be turned up all the way for stuff to be visible. But guess what? It is visible! Quite well! As in, there's really no noticeable problem. Not to mention, we got the second TV to replace the first one; we kept the first one around because, well, why not? So now apparently having 2 is the standard? If this continues, we'll be voting to replace that same old TV again in a few years, bringing us up to 4. Only, last time we replaced it, it actually needed to be (well, an adapter would have done the trick, but apparently nobody thought of that), whereas now it doesn't.

Anyway, apparently few people shared my objections, as it was passed, and today the new TV has arrived. And it is huge. They're playing Halo 3 on it downstairs, screen split 4 ways, and each quarter of the screen is the size of a small TV. It is nutty. It's downstairs, but obviously we're going to have to at least temporarily Smash to wherever it is.

As wasteful as it is, I have to admit it's pretty cool.

(The old TV is on the circular table upstairs for now.)

The old one has been more visibly failing in the last few days, with large amounts of noise in the picture

Hm, that is true, there has been noise enough in the picture to be something of a nuisance. But is that a TV problem? Recently I saw a bunch of noise on the TV screen, and I just screwed the adapter in tighter.
