Names, first and last

sniffnoySome people are called by their first name, some by their last name, some by their full name, some by a nickname.
But it's rather odd to apply this to professors. I mean, they're always called just by last name, right? So it rather confused me when I found out "Miklos" is the first name of the professor doing the group theory thing, because that's the only name I've ever heard him called by.
