OK, I'd go and delete that last entry seeing as it's being superseded by this one, but someone's already commented on it, so...

...OK, I take that back, it's *not* being superseded by this one anyway, as I don't feel like writing enough to cover all that's happened today. So I'll stick to what happened Saturday.

"The strangest Rosh Hashanah ever in my life" - not how I would have described it, but then, my mom said this, not me. And I'm prepared to believe her.

Now, had I been an OAide, I would have left for Chicago a week ago. Instead, I find myself leaving on Rosh Hashanah. Mom plans it out thusly: Friday night is big family dinner at Uncle Marty's. Saturday I have a flight into Chicago from LaGuardia at 16:35, so at least I can come to shacharit before leaving. Meanwhile my family will be visiting my dad's family in Brooklyn. I can then start unpacking.

Everything goes well up to the whole thing about the flight leaving at 16:35. There is a problem with the plane, and after being delayed for at least two hours - enough time to fly to Chicago - it is eventually cancelled. There are no more flights to Chicago from LaGuardia that day, so they give us back our luggage, and we all have to get new flights. Eventually my parents arrive and my mom does some waiting in my place, we get a flight on Sunday morning, along with a free round-trip ticket with ATA, $50 off any other ATA flight, and a coupon worth $10 of airport food. Well. They certainly didn't cancel that one to save money!

And so, instead of being in Chicago in 2 hours, I am still in New York after about 5 hours, and go home for the night.

What? That didn't sound so strange?

...yeah, I don't know any good way to convey the boredom of waiting through writing. But, that is what happened.
