Here is a mystery for you
Feb. 4th, 2011 03:46 pmA few days ago, something went wrong with my computer's power subsystem. It wouldn't recognize the power brick as being the right wattage, and as such, while it would run on AC, it wouldn't charge. I tried it with Shane's power brick too, also a 65W, same result. I wondered if perhaps there was something was wrong with the jack itself, since I recalled, a few days before that, having trouble phsyically inserting the cord into the computer.
In any case, today I took the thing down to the local repair shop to see what they could make of it. Person there had an idea: Hey, why don't we try it with a 90W brick? Somehow, it worked. So rather than paying for getting the thing repaired I just bought the new brick. The downside of this is that I don't know just what the actual problem is.
My guess is that there's a bad connection somewhere which is lowering the effective power transmitted. But it's still kind of strange.
