A new game has appeared in Tufts: Worms! Hooray for XBLA. (We still have yet to get Braid or Metal Slug 3...)
This is the XBLA Worms, of course, that being the only Worms game available through XBLA. It's not the original Worms, from what I know, but it's very pared down compared to most of the Worms games people here are used to (2, Armageddon, World Party). There are very few weapons (in particular, no baseball bat), oil drums do not cause fire, and damages are a bit different from what I'm used to (e.g. bazooka and grenade max out at 45 damage, meaning 2 shotgun hits are more effective in many cases). Also rope has very long range, and girders have infinite range but only one size. Also there is very little in the way of adjustable settings: Turn time, round time, retreat time, number of rounds, and, for each weapon, starting number and delay - and for some weapons you can't set starting number higher than 1. Mines are always random time, and may be duds. Sudden death is always 1 HP plus a fixed rate of water rising. Always 4 worms per team - and though it can handle up to 4 teams, it's always FFA. Etc.
(EDIT much later: Removed some erroneous information from above.)
Still, it's quite fun, and seems to be taking over the lounge. Hooray! We usually play on the "Ranked" scheme, but for more ridiculous games, we've made a "Half Wormage" scheme (because "Full Wormage" is just broken and not fun).
Unfortunately, it only allows the creation of 4 teams, aside from the computer and default teams, which can't be deleted.
Currently we have:
Reds (Trotsky, Che, Mao, Engels; Rushki voices; Nathan made this)
Star Wolf (Wolf, Leon, Pigma, Andrew; English voices; I made this)
Conclave (Adun, Tassadar, Fenix, Zeratul; Alien voices; Winston made this)
Top Gun (Maverick, Goose, Iceman, Jester; Redneck voices; Jeremy made this)
Probably some of these will eventually get edited (or deleted) to make way for ones other people want to make...
(Also, the terrain generator sucks. Also also, the single player challenge mode is really dumb, but are you honestly going to be playing and nobody's going to want to join?)
Odd note: Apparently the worms' screams on one of the voice packs we're currently using sounds like baby Isaac[0] crying; both Jack and Sasha have made this mistake.

[0]...you know, it occurs to me that I don't think I've mentioned Isaac at all. Well, he's Jack and Sarah's third kid, he was born towards the end of second quarter... hm, did I even mention that Sarah had been pregnant? I don't think I did... quite an omission... well, he's a baby only a few weeks old, so he's not really very interesting.
