Wherein Elana is completely ridiculous
Sep. 11th, 2007 07:53 pmNot exactly that unusual, I know.
So my sister, Elana, has just started as a first-year at Wellesley. Two weeks ago we went up to Massachusetts to drop her off.
And now she wants to transfer.
She's been at this school two weeks, one of which was orientation. How can she have already decided she wants out? And this is the school she got in early decision to.
So why? What's the reason? Apparently, the place is dead on weekends.
...so had you considered, you know, just switching to another dorm?
My mom tells me that Elana's response to this obvious suggestion was that her dorm is reputed to be the social dorm. But I think the sensible thing to do would be to ignore the reputation and actually look around at the others.
Or, you know what? If the place is dead, you have to drum something up. (Or, you know, just find things to do by yourself. Apparently she doesn't consider that an option either.) You're not much of a leader? Well, if it's necessary, so what? I'm not much good at it, and I don't like to do it, but when I've thought it was actually necessary, I've done so.
Meanwhile my parents are actually checking out college information books from the library again... it's hard to believe they're actually going along with this. I mean, this must cost a ton of money, right?
And she's only been there two weeks!
