OK, so I already had seen the game beaten and knew they baked a cake for you at the end. But anyway, that's 120 stars, and final Bowser beaten! I don't know why Jack said the last level was so hard - Bowser is, the rest isn't. Certainly not as hard as, say, getting to the top of Tick-Tock Clock... anyway, now...

Sayer tells me there are a few people who have gotten every coin in every level (special levels not counted - or are they?). Also that since the blue fire in the fight against final Bowser actually *generates* coins, you can get arbitrarily many that way if you're patient enough... and that in the American version, it's capped at 999, but in the Japanese version, having 1000 or more causes you to gain a life when you die, and lose a life when you get a green mushroom - which obviously must be deliberately programmed in, there's no way that could be an overflow. Also that there's a bug where by jumping right - you know those enemies in Snowman's Land that disguise themselves as coins? Moneybags, he said they're called. Anyway, by jumping just right, you can actually get the coin they're disguised as, and get arbitrarily many that way, although it only ever records 255 in the save.

ADDENDUM: See Brightguy's "Coin/Item Locations Guide" and DarkPhoenix84's "Infinite Coin Glitches Guide" for more on that... in particular the latter has two other bugs for getting arbitrarily many coins, one by killing giant piranha plants just before they're completely invisible, and one by carrying the Chuckya (the big purple bomb thing) in Wet-Dry World into the town (!).

...well, before I start another game, I suppose I ought to finish my math homework. Sigh. I ended up on the night cycle again and now I'm going to have to stay up all day. I did it all except that pseudo-parallelogram law problem from last time.

Lucas is ridiculous. Yesterday he sat down to solve the cubic equation... and he did. Of course, he started off by trying simpler cases, say for instance, x^3+ax+b, not even realizing every case reduced to that, which is kind of the easy part!

Interesting note: So once you get on top of the castle, you find that the back of the castle actually is a separate area, and if you try to go over the back, there's just sea and invisible wall preventing you from falling into the sea.
