sniffnoy: (Chu-Chu Zig)
So Lisa is no longer of Flint House, she has moved into Tufts.

So returning from the extra math thing today - there may be no class today (normally Chicago doesn't get MLK off, but they say this year we do because of the whole uproar caused by the "ghetto party" back in the first quarter), but that won't stop Paul Sally from teaching! He can also walk now, somewhat (wow, I just ended a sentence in the middle of a pair of dashes \- but I didn't end the original sentence of course, as it's just a subsentence \- (gotta put the backslashes or it won't nest properly :D ) which I'm sure breaks the traditional rules of grammar/punctuation, but whatever, it makese sense) - I found a tire swing in the lounge. (Wow, that last sentence is going to confuse a lot of people, I bet. :D ) No, wait, that's not how it happened. I didn't immediately pass through the lounge, I looked in Alex's room because the door was open, and she said she had something she had to show me, and she brought me to the lounge. It hangs from a rope which is looped around two of the ceiling supports. My first thought was that Sayer had done it, but actually he wasn't involved. It was done by Mark and some others. I think Charlotte bought the tire, I don't know who actually put it up.

They put a note on it with a bow, saying "To Rowan, from Tufts". Bill points out that Rowan will never use it. "Well, in a few years he might." Fiona, seeing it later, said "I'm sure if he were 10 years older he would appreciate it." Mark says, "Well, it's a future gift." Fiona: "We are NOT staying here for 10 years."

...yeah, that's it.

UPDATE: It may have been the first-years who put it up, but it's been the second-years who have done the most with it... aside from suggestions that we should fill it with concrete and smash a hole through the wall or fill it with gasoline and set it on fire, they've also lifted it up to the 4th floor and dropped it down, used the ropes to hoist it up (though they didn't get someone to go in it), playing a game of "throw stuff at Sean which he will deflect with a poker" and "shove a couch in front of Sean", replacing the tire with a chair so it swings in the right dimension (I forgot to mention this before - the tire swing swung sideways, so you couldn't really propel yourself - well, you could if you faced that way, but that's not normally how you sit in a tire swing) and now Sayer is up there on the ceiling supports making the whole thing more secure. Yay.

Ooh, I just had a look and he made it so it only hangs from one rope, so now it swings freely in both dimensions (the tire is back, if you didn't realize). Now they're using this to play a game of "one person stands in the middle, on the carpet, and the rest swing the tire (which has some good mass on it) at him to knock him off".
