Wherein a lock is cut open
Oct. 24th, 2005 05:23 pmOn MWF I have swim class. Today I was going there, I went into the locker room, changed into my bathing suit, put my clothes in a locker, closed it, and then shouted quite loudly "Oh no!"
There was a lock on the locker. I didn't notice it because the locker was open and empty. Now, you'd think the presence of a lock would prevent the locker from closing, but it didn't, and now my clothes were locked behind someone else's lock.
I have swim class, though, so I figure I'll leave it alone till afterward and see if whoever owns the lock has removed it by then.
One hour later, he has not. Now, at this point I should note that you are not supposed to use your own locks on these lockers, you're supposed to use ones they provide, and this was his own lock. So I went down to the front desk and I told them what had happened, and, since this wasn't one of their locks, they couldn't look up the combination, and I got to see a lock get cut open. The tool they use for that is huge. It's like a giant wirecutter - where by "giant" I mean "about the length of the desk I am sitting at right now". I suppose you need a lot of force to cut through something like that...
