Quizbowl from the other end (part 0)
May. 16th, 2005 09:46 pmSo the team decided to hold another intramural this year - lots of teams this time! It'll be taking place afterschool over most of next week.
And, of course, there's a teacher team.
Originally we thought, "Hey, why don't we have a *separate* teacher's tournament, with teams of 2 instead of 4", but we decided to just have a teacher team as always. For some reason it was decided there could only be one teacher team, but we had 9 teachers, so today we played them against each other to determine who would actually play in the tournament (or out of it. Kind of weird to be picking the best when they're already way better than most of the students, no? So it's been suggested that, like last year, the teacher team shouldn't be entered in the tournament normally, but as some special thing at the end. Not quite sure how we're doing it.) Anyway, we had Torres, Ostfeld, Early, and Mr. Dr. Crane on one team ("The Dead Cats"), and Montone, Guderian, Weems, Scarpone, and Ms. Rick on the other ("The Blind Puppies") (names suggested by Mr. Weems and Mr. Torres). Anyway, without bothering to go into detail, the Blind Puppies won, and the actual teacher team will be Montone, Ostfeld, Scarpone, and Guderian (I had guessed beforehand that it would be Ostfeld, Scarpone, Guderian, and Torres, but we didn't bother to actually bet on these things.) And Noam gave out "fabulous prizes" that he got who-knows-where, somewhat reminiscent of NJ States two years ago but less organized. They included a thing of 4 or 5 tennis balls, a bunch of toy-solider-style toy firefighers (labeled "THEY SAVE YOUR LIFE IN DANGER"), some play money, a GI Joe video in Spanish, and a video called "Computer Memory Expansion Made Easy" (may have that slightly wrong). Perhaps some other stuff I forgot.
...yeah, that's all.
