Bus chasing
Feb. 28th, 2005 03:15 pmDue to the expected snow, it was announced during IGS that today would be a half day.
I was about to write "Interestingly enough, it still has not snowed," but going to my window, I see it has started. It didn't snow at all during the school, though.
Today was also the first day Elana and I missed the morning bus.
Well, we didn't actually miss it; we missed it at our stop. Elana starts heading home, I tell her that if we run down Delmar, we can make it to the next stop before the bus does - but she insists on going home and getting Dad to drive to catch up (which was actually the right thing to do, I suppose, as we might *not* have made it, and then we would have been screwed). Anyway, I tell him, go directly to Byrd, it has to go there, that's the last place it goes, and it has to double back, but he wants to try to catch it at Central. It's there, but we're not quick enough, and we chase it towards Byrd. I tell him to let us off at Rock and Doremus - the bus has to double back; if we simply wait here and wave our arms, we're ahead of the bus. Instead he chases it from behind. The bus stops at Byrd; we stop behind it, slowly. We're getting out of the car, the bus is beginning to go, Dad is shouting "HOLD THE BUS!" to no end, we run up by it and she sees us and we get on. Oy. So it worked, but it's still a stupid idea to try to chase a bus from behind. Better yet, if you're afraid the bus driver wouldn't see us there, simply go to Byrd, but from the other direction; that way we're still ahead of the bus, and at Byrd.
