Day missed the point... [Appeal [458]]
Jan. 26th, 2004 06:05 pmDay has ruled FALSE! The round does not yet end!
Emphasis on "yet".
It *will* be appealed, and the result will be TRUE.
Day completely missed the point. See, we had been assuming that Rule 560 was entirely void by Rule 109, and Catesby showed that it was equally consistent to assume that it wasn't, and therefore it is impossible to determine whether or not the CRCs performed were actually legal.
Day, in his ruling, essentially said, "Well, if you think about it, there's no reason it has to be entirely void... therefore this whole thing is FALSE." Brilliant, Day. Way to not pay any attention.
I've actually submitted an RFJ that says that if the ruling *is* overturned, that won't cause Catesby to win. However, my argument is rather flimsy, and come to think of it, I probably shouldn't have submitted it, as, even if it comes out TRUE, I'm *still* just delaying the end of the round. Because then Catesby will just resubmit the original RFJ, and get that ruled TRUE.
Well.
The heat was all out in the chem wing today, and it was ridiculously cold in there. By AP Chem it had warmed up somewhat (still very cold, mind you), but during Crane's class, it was so cold in the room that we had class in the senior breezeway instead. It was cold out there, too, but not as cold as in the classroom. He stood on the landing with his portable whiteboard and we sat on the steps and benches.
For whatever reason, I thought it was really funny that the variable usually used for half-life is t½; nobody else did. :P
We're going to be doing first-order linear differential equations next in Calc, it seems; I must say that Vijaya's explanation of differential equations was remarkably bad. But then, I suppose that's what you expect from Vijaya.
For no apparent reason, I sang The Hunting Song on the bus home, and - amazingly enough - managed to avoid completely butchering it. I certainly got quite a few weird looks, though. :D
And, to end this entry, a quite disturbing picture that Toreun linked me to: http://www.narf.at/~zaphod/colors2.jpg
(No, it's nothing dirty. But disturbing nonetheless.)
