Ah, explains a bit
Sep. 8th, 2003 07:42 pmI barely made it through Calculus today - I made the mistake of attempting to follow Dr. Vijaya's handwaving, fallacious, and circular proofs of various continuity theorems. Even worse was her forgetting to qualify her statements, leaving out important conditions such as that certain variables did not equal 0, and her utter, utter, abuse of terminology. Well, this is what the textbook is for.
I found out later, from Tom, Dr. Vijaya's not a mathematician (she's a physicist). Still, you'd think she'd have gone over the material enough times over the years that she'd get it right...
Well, it won't be worse than Penev, anyway... if I can stop wincing every statement or two...

"I give up," said Pierre de Fermat's friend. "How DO you keep a
mathematician busy for 350 years?"
