...and mandatory Gnostica.
Jul. 12th, 2003 06:54 pmSo today was the Mandatory Fun, which as it was just consisted of going over to some park near The Towers and them giving us lunch, which was not as good as the lunch we normally have. I finally managed to start a game of Gnostica, though. However, with 5 people playing, it took so long that we didn't actually finish because we had to go eat dinner (and just when I was starting to do well, too (I have won only 1 game of Gnostica in my life, and that was just because the only other player (Chris Howard) got really unlucky)). We were the second-to-last people to leave; the last were a bunch of Chess players. I think a lot of people didn't actually come, and of course it would have been better if we had just played it in the dorm, as then we wouldn't have had to worry about wind. But we went, because it was Mandatory. I'm wondering what ever happened to that game of Diplomacy; presumably there will be one sometime. I've never played before, so I really want to play. But now I'm going to go work on my problem set (really!), having just (FSLVO "just") found the Well-Ordering Principle. The scary thing was, the problem I got it from ( prove || (disprove && salvage) : all integers > 1 have >=1 prime factor ) used it directly, and yet I kept trying to state it indirectly (at least, Josh *thinks* you can prove the WOP from my statements), such as saying that there are no natural numbers < 1. Josh had to ask me repeatedly "But what is it you want this axiom to actually do?" before I finally hit upon it. Well, I have it now, which is good. I'm pretty sure I'm no longer missing any axioms.
My mom wanted me to call her yesterday, and so I did, and so she ranted at me for quite a bit when she found I hadn't washed my hair for a week. Of course I haven't washed my hair for a week, I left the shampoo at my cousins' house. And I never found the time to buy some. So I finally went today to buy some, and the CVS was closed. I'm somewhat relieved.
A bit ago I wrote an entry about how much I hate the beach. I had just come back from there and was feeling rather miserable, as is to be expected when I have just been to the beach. However, I never finished it, having given up the computer midway, and it currently only exists as a private entry, as I certainly don't want other people seeing unfinished entries. I just wanted to say that there is a possibility that I may actually finish it someday. Just not much of one.
