I'll start with the 40 quarters, since that's not really very interesting. I went to the front desk to get change for a 10, and all they had was a roll of 40 quarters. So I took it.

So someone (I forget who) mentioned to me while I was playing that the original Mega Man is actually the hardest. Oh well. I've started it, so I'm going to stick with it until I beat it or get bored.

Now then...

So today, sometime in the afternoon, the fire alarm went off. Was it the fire drill? No, somebody pulled the alarm. Not only that, but apparently this also happened yesterday around 20:30 or so (when I was at quizbowl). So we wait around for about 20 minutes as the fire trucks take their time coming from across the street, eventually the firemen declare it safe, just a false alarm, and we go back in.

So about an hour or two ago, the fire alarm went off *again*. Somebody pulled it *again*? The suggestion went around that perhaps someone was doing this deliberately because it's parents weekend. So the fire trucks don't come this time, but after a while we're told we can go back in. No, wait, that was a mistake. So the firetrucks still don't come, and eventually some policeman tells us it'll just be about another 5 minutes. 5 minutes later, we're told what the problem is. Nobody's been pulling the alarm; one of the alarms is malfunctioning and has been triggering itself. So they have to go fix it, which will take about 20-30 minutes, and meanwhile we're *still* not allowed back in. So everyone starts heading south to wherever. I was going to go to Reynolds, and I ran into Shuo and Vivian and Mark right outside Bartlett. They were arguing over whether they should shelter in Bartlett or Reynolds, and eventually it was decided that it would be best to discuss this someplace warm, i.e., inside Bartlett, so we go in.

Now it happened that when the fire alarm went off, Mark was in the shower. Or maybe getting ready to take a shower. Either way, he was there wearing a shirt, his boxers, and a towel around that, more because he didn't want to be seen in his boxers than for warmth. I don't know, I think being seen in a towel would be worse, but there we were in Bartlett. Someone mentioned that they had heard something about dance lessons in Bartlett, maybe (if it's free) we should go to that. That was never found. We hid out in a little corner, until eventually Mark got a call on his cell phone. It was his parents. Everyone had been let back into the dorm - his parents didn't even know there had been a fire alarm - and they were waiting for him so they could get in.

Now, Mark, for whatever reason, is too embarassed to walk past his parents wearing a towel. So eventually it was decided that he would duck into Henry Crown, while Shuo, Vivian and I would continue on to Pierce to bring him his pants, and he would put them on in Henry Crown. I fell behind Shuo and Vivian shortly (I think I had to go to the bathroom), but presumably one of them brought the pants as I've actually seen him since.
