Yasha was explaining to Kat how to do the stacking-bricks-harmonic-series problem. He says, "We pick up an axis through the center of mass." "You pick up an axis?" I ask him. "Yes, we pick up an axis." Avi gives him a pen he can pick up as an axis.

And no, he did not do a Galitskiy voice while he was saying this.

Addendum: I decided to just expand this entry rather than make a second one. Just two things, anyway.

A quote from myself:
(18:31:44) Sniffnoy: I just had a very cleverly hidden infinite loop in my program
(18:31:51) Sniffnoy: or rather
(18:31:59) Sniffnoy: it would be clever if it were deliberate :P

That is all.

Is "deliberate" really a necessary condition for "clever"? Do you not believe in, uh, serendipity?

Well, I suppose not, but considering I would much rather *not* have an infinite loop in my program, I don't think it can really count as clever. Though I might have some use for it if I ever end up teaching a basic CS class, as I suppose I could then use it in a test question - "What's wrong with this implementation of mergesort on linked lists?" (Or anything else that involves recursively splitting a linked list in two. The problem was that lists of two elements were getting split 2-0 instead of 1-1. I think asking about it in the context of mergesort might be a bit mean... but I suppose it'll teach them to always check their recursions. :D )
